# Camera and Lens Words for Photoreal Images
When you want a photographic look, camera vocabulary helps the generator choose framing and depth. Reference notes for [Raphael AI](https://raphael.app).

## Focal length
| Phrase | Result |
|---|---|
| 24mm wide angle | more of the scene, slight distortion, environmental shots |
| 35mm | natural street-photo feel |
| 50mm | close to human vision, products and portraits |
| 85mm portrait lens | flattering faces, blurred background |
| 200mm telephoto | compressed background, wildlife and sports feel |
## Depth of field
- "shallow depth of field, f/1.8" isolates the subject.
- "deep focus, f/11" keeps landscapes sharp from front to back.
## Shot types
- close-up, medium shot, full body, wide establishing shot
- overhead / top-down, low angle, eye level
## Film and texture
"35mm film grain", "Kodak Portra colors" or "clean digital" change color and texture. Use one at most.
## Keep it realistic
Photoreal images of real people or events can mislead. Use them for fictional scenes, products and illustrations, and label them as AI-generated where context needs it.
